I agree with the 50% that technology helps teachers to improve student writing. I LOVE using Google Docs to comment on student writing. Having the flexibility to give "suggestions" and type comments has changed the way students look at their writing when I electronically hand back their work. Last year one student admitted to me that it was the first time she could even read the teacher's comments because she didn't understand cursive writing, and that is what all of her prior teachers used.
